FinnMob Story:
• The Finnish Mobile Association (FinnMob) is a matchmaking, networking and services organization creating opportunities for startups, corporates and investors, who have the common desire to maximize business potential of mobile devices, applications and services.
• By participating in the FinnMob community, our members and partners drive the transformation and growth of the mobile ecosystem that is converging with media.
• FinnMob promotes and builds awareness of the world’s most successful mobile cluster at global industry events and exhibitions.
Introduction:
The convergence of mobile and media is changing the landscape of wireless, media and advertising industries. Services that did not even exist five years ago, today draw hundreds of millions users every month, worldwide!
What FinnMob does is open doors and networks for companies in the mobile ecosystem so they can take an advantage of the huge range of opportunities convergence brings. Our members can leverage the vast network of global information, expertise, business partners, resources, service providers and investors.
Background, why FinnMob was founded:
FinnMob was founded in 2009 to create a network for the innovative Finnish mobile, technology and design industries. As the domestic market in Finland is limited, one of our main tasks is to help Finnish companies go international and expand their business opportunities worldwide. We encourage our members to realize the global potential for their products and services.
Vision and mission:
We’re here to help you to best harness the mobile revolution. Our goal is to be the first port of call when a Finnish company needs access to mobility-related expertise and international networks.
We find synergies between companies and connect them, leading to customers, new revenue streams, venture capital investment and potentially mergers and acquisitions.
We encourage Finnish companies to be active and go international, as well as international companies to take a new look at increasingly exciting Finnish market.
Our mission is to:
• Spot emerging trends and create forecasts
• Coordinate education on mobile-related platforms such as social media
• Build strategic partnerships with global players
• Build Finland’s and Finnish organisations reputation internationally
Members – what we do for them?
We help promote Finnish companies and build the brand of Finland’s mobile expertise. FinnMob membership can be considered as an important step to increase revenues expectations with a reasonable investment.
Scouting (M&A, FDI), finding synergies between companies and industries, being innovative, daring and forward looking are our mottos. We organize events for match-making, offer easier access to international exhibitions and meetings as well as build awareness.
For our international partners, we offer media cooperation and scouting services to find great M&A targets and technology partners from Finland.
FinnMob operations in Helsinki, Finland & NYC, USA
We don’t just talk about international, we also do it - in spring 2011 we founded our US office in New York, where we work closely with the New York Mayor’s office and New York University.
The goal for our expansion to the East Coast is to find the 30 most potential media houses that could benefit from mobile technology and introduce them to Finnish expertise. The second goal of the project is to attract R&D to Finland, where there is a talented workforce available.
We are also establishing a new incubator and co-working space for Finnish companies in New York. We will offer office space as well as mentoring services and introduction to local investors.
In Finland, we’re headquartered in Helsinki city centre. In addition to our global work, we have established a new networking event called OpenBar that brings together local businesses on regular basis.
